We are accepting applications for a two-year postdoctoral position with research directed toward the synthesis and analysis of large marine biodiversity datasets to assess spatial and temporal variation in species distribution and abundance and their implications for the design of networks of marine protected areas. This work will be carried out within the European FP7 project CoCoNET (http://www.coconet-fp7.eu/). The successful candidate is expected to work in close collaboration with GIS experts and to participate in monitoring activities of benthic assemblages and coastal fish in the Mediterranean.
Applicants should have a PhD in marine ecology or related field, a background in data analysis and synthesis, demonstrated ability to lead and publish research, good skills in networking and communication and fluency in English.
Desired Qualifications: experience with GIS and analysis of large datasets, diving skills and ability to undertake field ecology; immediate availability.
The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Prof. Lisandro Benedetti-Cecchi and Dr. Fabio Bulleri at the University of Pisa
